The Official Software for Indian Homes CFOs

What’s a man got to do to ensure his pockets are not getting ripped anyways?

I felt the time about right to introspect my Financial Software — I’ve been aQuicken [Q!] user for a number of years now. What I started as a simple Excel worksheet grew quickly to invest into the 1990s popular software bundle Quicken. It worked and I found that “OFX" was indeed a boom if you were a Citibank customer. It could show you all you bank accounts, transactions and allow paying bills online - awesome! No paper, no statements, check against fraud!

In India, ICICI will let you download a Q! compatible file. Alas! the region settings in Q! are all for the screen. the guts in Q! still want a DD/MM/YYYY setting. And you cannot download price data for securities since there is no support for it from the trading companies. One can fix the downloaded ICICI files for dates (it’s text anyways) and reimport as FX - this is a pain.

And then there is Quicken/Microsoft Money comparison - an expat claims he didn’t like tally though it’s alomost 2wice as functional. I’ve to acknowledge that I’ve’nt tried Money but hear it’s a good tool with lots of fancy online integrations.

The good news — Quicken has now officially launched for India. They are closely integrated with ICICI and support transactions from most all banks (both Debit & Credit).

For the home CFOs - go ahead and try Intuit Money Manager which is part of ICICI Online banking, at dirt cheap price of 300/annum now.. you will be glad you took this service. It will help you organize, simplify and manage your finances well!
